A few weeks ago, was my first experience of the annual Interfaith Football Tournament, hosted at Winston Churchill School. It was an amazing time and incredible to see the power that the game of Football has in bringing people together.

During the tournament my team experienced, winning, losing and drawing and it probably doesn’t come as any surprise which one of those we preferred. However, the whole day showed me another great example of the power of words and specifically encouragement. It seemed everyone played better when they were being encouraged. It’s amazing how powerful words can be. The book of proverbs in the Bible is full of wisdom and it says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. The challenge for all of us seems to be - are we going to be people who talk in a way that brings life and joy and peace or are we going to be people who speak death, destruction and hate. Who can you encourage today?
